My wife Eri and son William and I tent camp here every year from the Bay area. It’s a great spot, just show up. There are always plenty of spaces available when we go in august but perhaps it’s a different story on a holiday weekend such as the 4th of July or Labor day. There are Lodgepole pines (Pinus Contorta) growing in abundance all over and there small cones make for great tinder when starting a fire. At only $14.00 a night you can’t beat it. There is also a nice remote area just south of the campgrounds where you can walk to in about 15 minutes and feel totally secluded from everyone and everything.

    Thanks for your comment Tim.

My family always enjoys going to Bridalveil. It’s one of the few spots where you don’t need a reservation months in advance to get in. The scenic overlook at Glacier Point is awesome and the easy going trail to McGurk Meadow is amazing especially when the wild flowers start to bloom. Last time we went we saw a black bear in between Glacier point and the campground.
