Popular tent types include dome, family, 2 room, 3 room, 2 person, 3 man, or 4 man models. Some of the best tent brands are Browning, Alps, Columbia, Wenzel, Chinnok, Marmot, Coghlans, Coleman, High Peak, Grand Trunk, Kamp-Rite, MSR, Texsport, McNett, Kelty, Sierra Designs, GigaTent, Trek, and Eureka.

Coleman Red Canyon Tent

Model: Red Canyon
Brand: Coleman
Type: 8 person tent
Size: 17-Foot by 10-Foot

The Coleman Red Canyon Tent is a very large dome tent that sleeps up to 8 people. It measures 17 by 10 feet and has a center height of 72 inches providing plenty of room for most people to stand up and easily change clothing. It has the ability to separate into up to three different rooms using the divider inserts that come with the package. Kids and especially teenagers really love having their own area of the tent and this tent makes it easy to accomplish.

One of the great things about the Red Canyon tent is its shock-corded poles which go together easily to make pitching the tent a relatively simple affair. One thing to note is it can be difficult to get the rain fly on by yourself. However, for two people once you know the process it is easy. You may need to read over the instruction manual once to get the hang of it, however after that pitching the tent should be a snap. The instructions are sewn right onto the storage bag so you won’t have to worry about misplacing them. The poles are also color coded to make things easier to assemble. There’s also separate storage bags for the stakes and the poles to keep everything organized.

The tent is well designed with Coleman’s exclusive Weathertec System that is designed to protect you against moisture and rain. The seams are protected and the floor seams are inverted to help maximize water resistance by hiding the needle holes which can cause leakage to occur. I do recommend getting a seam sealer to help protect the seams from leaking especially if you will be expecting wet weather.

The Red Canyon tent additionally has weather resistant fabric, and other features include zipper protection with a built-in zipper cuff, and a sturdy wind resistant frame that uses guyout triangles and a waterproof floor material. Due to this tents high profile it doesn’t handle extremely windy condition that well. While the tent says it can sleep up to 8 people, the number will be about half that amount if you decide to use twin air mattresses. If you get hot inside you can adjust the cool air port to get the air circulation to exactly how you want it.

In all the Coleman Red Canyon tent is a great bargain for most types of summer condition camping. It’s massive and makes a great family tent and is durable and attractive looking. It’s also one of the most popular family tents currently on the market. The only thing you might be worried about is finding a camping spot large enough to accommodate it’s large size.
